Chinook School Division Board tuned up and ready to go

The Southwest Booster - - NEWS - ELISABETHDOWSON

Back after a month’s break, the Board of the Chinook School Division reconvened on August 23rd to deal with miscellaneous administrative items, including a proposed benefit package for Board members and revisions to a number of governance, procedure and administrative policies intended to facilitate teamwork within the group.

“Since the new board has taken over last year, we have five new board members and we’ve had a chance to review our policies, to tweak them, to adjust a little bit where they needed to be adjusted, now that we’re in operational mode,” explained Board Chair Randy Beler.

In the coming year, the Board will create four Standing Committees: Finance/Budget; Facilities; Transportation; and Technology. Members who choose to participate in the committees will gain in-depth knowledge in those areas that can then be related back to the Board, hopefully encapsulating information and streamlining Board meetings.

“The plan with the committees,” added Beler, “is to enact them when we have our organizational meeting in November. We may enact the Facilities Committee a little sooner.”

The Board will meet again on September 13th
