The sixth annual Children’s Harvest Festival attracted over 250 costumed creatures excited to have such a worthwhile program for a Halloween alternative.

Pastor Alex of Alpine Church of God, who offered their facility for the event, said “We’ve been averaging around 200 but we’re closer to 250 already. When we started tonight, every chair was taken and the children were sitting on the floor as well.

“ We supply the facility, but it’s a community effort. We have over 100 businesses that participate. It’s fun, it provides an alternative to being on the street, and it’s safe. Funds go to the Women’s Shelter this year.”

Each child received a large goodie bag with a radio and coupons valued at about $40 to get them started on an evening of cool games and great food.

“In the games room, every child gets a prize for every game they play and then they can redeem their tokens in the prize room, and there are door prizes as well,” said Pastor Alex. “ There’s a special games area for very young children as well.”
