RCMP present award to helpful citizen
The Swift Current City RCMP Detachment has saluted a city man for his efforts in helping get a drunk driver off the road.
A citizen’s award was recently presented to Daniel Hjermenrude by Staff Sergeant, Allan MacDonell of the Swift Current City RCMP Detachment. Hjermenrude went above and beyond the expectations of an average citizen in helping police apprehend a drunk driver.
According to the RCMP, on the evening of Sept. 11, Constable Ryan Fraser responded to a 911 call of an intoxicated man who had been involved in a motor vehicle collision and was Staff Sergeant Allan MacDonell from the Swift Current City RCMP Detatchment presents Daniel Hjermenrude his certificate. upset punching his vehicle. When Const. Fraser arrived on scene in the northeast part of the city, he was met by Hjermenrude who had taken the keys away from the impaired driver. Hjermenrude handed over the intoxicated man and his keys to Const. Fraser who arrested the man for Impaired Driving. The RCMP note this is an example of how a citizen can help the police and keep the community safe.
