Magna Electric Corporation and WorkSafe launch summer eye safety campaign
As part of their Mission: Zero initiative, WorkSafe Saskatchewan and Magna Electric Corporation are partnering to launch a year-long eye safety awareness campaign on June 21 in Regina that will see thousands of safety glasses distributed free of charge throughout the province by MEC.
The glasses will feature the MEC and Mission: Zero logos to remind people to wear safety glasses wherever they work - at home or on the job.
“ When we signed the Saskatchewan Health and Safety Leadership Charter last year, we committed to building safety at work and bringing it into the community. This is Magna’s way of taking what we believe about safety and sharing it with our neighbours and the people we meet every day,” said MEC President Kerry Heid, the 2010 WorkSafe Saskatchewan Safe Employer Award winner and innovator behind the campaign.
“My employees and I want to help make sure that if you go outside to mow your grass or build a shed this summer, you have a pair of safety glasses within reach and you wear them.”
Eyes ranked third out of the top five body parts injured at work in 2010 in Saskatchewan. The safety glasses will be distributed by MEC employees, on MEC’s 60 locator trucks and will also be distributed through WSS presentations in high schools this fall.
Magna Electric Corporation provides electrical consulting, manufacturing, construction, field testing, commissioning services and training to the commercial, industrial and utility sectors, offering power system solutions to customers throughout North America and select international markets.
