Swift Cur­rent hosts Pro-am dart shoot

Ato­tal of 18 com­peti­tors took aim at top spot dur­ing Swift Cur­rent’s first pro-am dart shoot ear­lier this month.

The June 4 event, hosted at Lucky Char­lie’s Pub, boasted Saskatchew­an’s top six ranked men’s dart play­ers plus two of the top women’s com­peti­tors. The event will lead to the for­ma­tion of a dart league at Lucky Char­lie’s this fall.

The morn­ing event started with open sin­gles dou­ble knock­out matchplay. The fi­nal saw sixth ranked Cur­tis Neufeld from Swift Cur­rent up against fifth ranked Brian Humphreys from Flin Flon. En­route to the fi­nal Neufeld racked up a per­fect record tak­ing out the num­ber two and three seeded play­ers in the prov­ince as well as SDA team mem­ber Ken Friesen from Saska­toon.

Brian Humphreys dropped his first set to drop down to the B side only to claw his way back up to the fi­nal against Neufeld.

In the end Humphreys proved to strong for Neufeld tak­ing both sets 41 in each set to claim the sin­gles ti­tle.

In the af­ter­noon, Pro-am shoot novice play­ers were teamed up with Sask Darts high per­for­mance play­ers. The fi­nal re­sults saw top ranked Cliff Cul­bert from Hodgeville, teamed with novice player Den­nis McDer­mott from Prince Al­bert, win­ning the Pro-am ti­tle with a 12-4 record one point ahead of fourth ranked John Brann (win­ner of the 2011 Saskatchew­an mens ti­tle) teamed with Mark Lan­gen from Al­berta. Adam Huxted of Swift Cur­rent and his part­ner fin­ished fourth to post the high­est plac­ing among lo­cal novice darters.
