City approves sale of land in northeast for Personal Care Home
City Council has approved the purchase of approximately 9.2 acres of land located east of Saskatchewan Drive and north of Scott Place by a company called Golden Health Care Inc. of Saskatoon for the purpose of developing a 70-unit Personal Care Home, with additional plans to construct seniors assisted living housing in a second phase, and complementary commercial development in a third phase.
The City approved the sale of 5.0 acres at $121,000 per acre; the purchase of an option on the remaining 4.2 acres at the same price, with a non-refundable $25,000 deposit; and the right of first refusal on 1.86 acres of commercial property located to the west of the subject property along Saskatchewan Drive. The approximate total price will be $605,000.
As part of the agreement, the City agreed to subdivide the property into two parts and rezone both the purchased and option properties from UR to R3 High Density multiunit Dwelling Residential.
