City ap­proves sale of land in north­east for Per­sonal Care Home

City Coun­cil has ap­proved the pur­chase of ap­prox­i­mately 9.2 acres of land lo­cated east of Saskatchew­an Drive and north of Scott Place by a com­pany called Golden Health Care Inc. of Saskatoon for the pur­pose of de­vel­op­ing a 70-unit Per­sonal Care Home, with additional plans to con­struct se­niors as­sisted liv­ing hous­ing in a sec­ond phase, and com­ple­men­tary com­mer­cial de­vel­op­ment in a third phase.

The City ap­proved the sale of 5.0 acres at $121,000 per acre; the pur­chase of an op­tion on the re­main­ing 4.2 acres at the same price, with a non-re­fund­able $25,000 de­posit; and the right of first re­fusal on 1.86 acres of com­mer­cial prop­erty lo­cated to the west of the sub­ject prop­erty along Saskatchew­an Drive. The ap­prox­i­mate to­tal price will be $605,000.

As part of the agree­ment, the City agreed to sub­di­vide the prop­erty into two parts and re­zone both the pur­chased and op­tion prop­er­ties from UR to R3 High Den­sity mul­tiu­nit Dwelling Res­i­den­tial.
