SWAC runners take on the elements

– ne hundred and forty runners braved the elements on Oct. 3 to participat­e in the SWAC district cross country meet at Gull Lake golf course. The temperatur­e was barely above freezing and was accompanie­d by showers and breezy conditions. The students ranging from grade 4-12 did remarkably well considerin­g the running conditions. Top 3 results included: Pee Wee girls (grades 4, 5, 6) – (31 entries)

2nd – Brielle Wymark.

3rd – Baylee Kirwan – Gull Lake.

Pee Wee boys (grades 4, 5, 6) – (44 entries)

Bantam girls (grade 7, 8) – (12 entries)

22 runners in the midget, junior and senior categories who qualified are planning on attending the SHSAA provincial­s on Saturday, October 13 in Echo Valley provincial park.
