Hur­ri­canes split with War­riors

The Swift Cur­rent KMo­tel Hur­ri­canes came out on op­po­site ends of a home-and-away set against the Moose Jaw War­riors over the week­end.

Satur­day, the Hur­ri­canes scored in the fi­nal minute to edge the vis­it­ing Moose Jaw War­riors 4- 3. Vet­eran Thomas Ham­mer­ton scored with only 39 sec­onds left in reg­u­la­tion to clinch the Hur­ri­canes first win of the sea­son.

Bray­den Kar­maz­inuk scored twice, Kyler Sachkowski had a pair of as­sists, and Do­minic Vallee also scored. Tris­tan Her­man­son, Darby Crozier, and Ham­mer­ton all added as­sists. Lo­gan Tis­dale earned the win in goal.

Sun­day, the Hur­ri­canes ran into penalty prob­lems and suf­fered a 5-1 loss to the host War­riors.

The Hur­ri­canes fin­ished the week­end with a 1-2-0 to sit in the mid­dle of the pack in the South Sask Midget AA Hockey League.

The Hur­ri­canes will host a pair of league ri­vals this week. They will take on the York­ton Ter­ri­ers on Satur­day at 2:15 p.m. at the Credit Union iplex. The Hur­ri­canes will also host the Notre Dame Hounds on Wed­nes­day at 8 p.m. at Fairview West Arena.
