Chinook School Division Sports Report

Our junior district badminton finals were held on May 4 in Maple Creek. Thanks to Maple Creek High and Sidney Street for hosting. Thanks also to our commissioners – Tyson Krause and Carson Benallack. Our medalists were:

GIRLS’ SINGLES

Gold – Julie Hoffart (Burstall)

Silver – Heather Caswell (Frontier)

BOYS’ SINGLES

Gold – Taran Ham (Frontier)

Silver – Aden Hudec (Fox Valley)

GIRLS’ DOUBLES

Gold – Stephanie Furseth-Doll / McKenzie Funk (Herbert)

Silver – Jill Teichrob / Anu Maalerud (Maple Creek)

BOYS’ DOUBLES

Gold – Riley Hughes / Donovan Palmer (Hazlet)

Silver – Kirk Humphrey / Sean Arnal (Eastend)

MIXED DOUBLES

Gold – Savannah Mass / Nicolas Ehnisz (Burstall)

Silver – Cole Bissonnette / Kahlan Ellertson (Swift Current Comp).

The Swift Current Comp hosted the SHSAA region A badminton playoffs on May 4. Thanks to Janna Walker for acting as our commissioner. Teams from Regina, South Central and the South West participated.

In girls’ singles, Swift Current’s Tianna Kissick went undefeated (5-0) to capture first. The other South West entry was Hope Anderson (Frontier) who finished fourth at 2-3.

In boys’ singles, the Comp’s Jon Neustaeter also went 5-0 to win gold. Jeremy Wilson (Hazlet) was fourth at 2-3.
