Four winners at North Battleford Indoor Rodeo
The early stages of the Canadian Cowboy’s Association rodeo circuit continued at the three-day North Battleford Kinsmen Indoor Rodeo. Three Southwest cowboys picked up first-place finishes at the second CCA event in Saskatchewan in April.
Shaunavon’s Tanner Allemand had no problems staying on ‘Slippery Sam’ as he scored an 80 to top the 27-man Bull Riding field for $772.
Maple Creek’s Ross Kreutzer got an early win under his belt in North Battleford. He scored a 78 on ‘Anvilhead’ to easily win the 20-man Saddle Bronc field for a $584 payday.
Mankota’s Kassidy Williamson was the fastest competitor in Junior Girls Barrel Racing. She rounded the barrels in 13.7 seconds for $226.
Waldeck’s Tuftin McLeod continued his strong start to the season in Tie Down Roping. The Waldeck cowboy was third in 9.0 seconds for $587. Yorkton’s Matt Switzer, formerly of Swift Current, was fourth in 9.5 seconds for $483.
Piapot’s Brady Bertram picked up a score of 75 on ‘Hawkeye’ to place fourth in Bareback for $108. The event was won by Esterhazy’s Michael Tuck with an 80 on ‘Big Shot’ for $432.
Nine Southwest cowgirls were a part of the 51-rider Ladies Barrel Racing field and two were able to win money. Maple Creek’s Kerry Maynes finished fourth in 13.77 seconds for $746. Stewart Valley’s Janet Lynn Moen was right behind her in fifth in 13.81 seconds for $483.
Val Marie’s Riley Hayes and Waldeck’s Tyce McLeod were the top Southwest pair in Team Roping. They finished fourth in 9.0 seconds for $816.
Kyle’s Chad Hantelman was the only Southwest cowboy in Steer Wrestling. He finished sixth in 26.2 seconds for $111.
The CCA is currently in the midst of a month long break before resuming on May 24-25 with the Dean Anthony Memorial Rodeo in Mankota.
