Humphrey fifth at MJT Golf Tour Event in Prince Al­bert

Two South­west golfers took part in a Maple Leaf Ju­nior Golf Tour Saskatchew­an Se­ries Tour­na­ment over the long week­end.

Swift Cur­rent’s Grif­fin Wil­son and Eas­t­end’s Kirk Humphrey were both in Prince Al­bert for the 2013 MJT Na­tion­wide / Golf Saskatchew­an OOM Se­ries at Cooke Mu­nic­i­pal Golf Course over the Canada Day week­end.

Humphrey placed fifth in the Ban­tam Boys Di­vi­sion. He sat sev­enth af­ter the first round when he fired an 84 to sit five shots back of Prince Al­bert’s Kyle Sch­nei­der for the lead. He trimmed three strokes on day two with an 81 to fin­ish with a to­tal of 165, just seven shots off the lead. Sch­nei­der re­peated his 79 on Sun­day for a twoshot win over Saska­toon’s Matt Bean and York­ton’s Kade John­son.

Wil­son placed 19th in the Ban­tam Boys Di­vi­sion with a two-round to­tal of 198.

Wil­son shot a 105 on Satur­day to sit well back of the lead af­ter the first round. He won the Golf Town Come­back Award af­ter im­prov­ing by 12 shots on day two with a 93.

The next MJT Saskatchew­an Se­ries stop will be the MJTCPGA of Saskatchew­an Ju­nior Cham­pi­onship at The Wil­lows Golf and Coun­try Club in Saska­toon on July 25-26.
