Allemand highlights Boomtown Days Stampede

The Canadian Cowboys’ Associatio­n Rodeo will be one of the key attraction­s at Shaunavon’s Boomtown Days and Centennial Celebratio­n this weekend.

The CCA rodeo will feature performanc­es on Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. each night at the Ron Winquist Arena during four days of Centennial celebratio­ns. Slack will also be held on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.

Hometown boy Tanner Allemand will highlight the local field. He will take on Prex Excess in a field of 15 bull riders on Friday evening. Allemand is currently seventh in the CCA standings among bull riders.

Lee Wallis will be the lone Shaunavon cowboy in Tie Down Roping action when he enters the arena on Friday evening.

Four Shaunavon cowgirls will take part in Ladies Barrel Racing and they are all slated to see action during Slack. Kasandra Amon, Courtney Link, Krystal Grad, and Brittany Hockley will all be rounding the barrels on Saturday morning.

Lee Wallis will work with Colin Smith in Team Roping on Friday as well. Darcy Wallis and Greg Amon will try their hand during Slack.

Paige Mizu will be one of 22 Junior Girls Barrel Racing competitor­s and is slated for action on Saturday evening.

Two locals will put it on the line in Novice Bull Riding. Mac Oberle will ride on Friday evening and Ethen Stevenson will ride Saturday evening.

Among the other top competitor­s from the area to watch will be Maple Creek’s Ross Kreutzer in Saddle Bronc. He will take on Roman Ruler during the Saturday evening performanc­e. Kreutzer currently leads all CCA Saddle Bronc cowboys in the Budlight Standings.

Piapot’s Brady Bertram is currently fourth in the Bareback standings. He will take on Keeper on Saturday evening. Consul’s Monty Koopman will face Free Shipping on Friday. He is currently fifth in the Bareback standings.

Joining Allemand in the Bull Riding field will be Maple Creek’s Jared Parsonage. He sits third in the Budlight Standings and will ride Burnt Rubber on Saturday evening.

Three members of the Williamson family out of Mankota are among the leaders in their respective events this season. Shawn Williamson will be roping Shaunavon’s Tanner Allemand will be in Bull Riding action at the Boomtown Days Stampede on Friday evening when he takes on Prex Excess. in Slack on Saturday morning.

He is currently fifth in the Tie Down Roping standings and 15th in the Canadian High Award standings.

April Williamson is currently ninth in Ladies Barrel Racing. She will compete

Points during Slack as well. Kassidy Williamson will take part in Junior Girls Barrel Racing. She is currently second in the standings.
