Prospects aiming for Team West

-

A couple of Swift Current Broncos prospects are among the 34 players from Saskatchewan who will compete this summer for spots on Team West.

34 players from Saskatchewan and 34 from Manitoba will be attempting to win spots on Team West for the 2014 World Under-17 Tournament in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on December 28, 2013 - January 5, 2014.

Wyatt Sloboshan is one of 18 forwards remaining on the list. The Saskatoon product tallied 11 goals and 25 assists in 31 regular season games with the Saskatoon Contacts of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League. He added three points in the playoffs as the Contacts won the league championship and went on to represent the West Region at the Telus Cup.

Sloboshan was chosen 54th in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft by the Broncos.

Brandon Arnold is also among the Saskatchewan forward ranks after he registered nine goals and 14 assists in 41 games with the Tisdale Trojans during his rookie season in the SMAAAHL. The Dodsland native was selected in the seventh round of the 2013 Bantam Draft, 139th overall.

The Team West Regional Summer Camp will be held in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba on August 7-11.

The 22-player roster will be released on November 11.

Team West used to be comprised equally of players from Saskatchewan and Manitoba but that mandate is no longer in effect.
