The Swift Current Indians failed to put any distance between themselves and their Central Division rivals last week as they enter the stretch run in the Western Major Baseball League. They finished the weekend with a 20-13 record and a 4.5-game lead over Saskatoon for the division lead during a tough recent stretch.

Wednesday, the Tribe broke out offensively to get back into the win column at home.

One night after being shutout for the first time all season, the Tribe broke out for 10 runs against the visiting Moose Jaw Miller Express and held on for the win.

The Indians held a 10-3 lead after seven innings before allowing five late runs.

The Indians were led by their three and four hitters in the order, who both swatted their fifth homeruns of the season.

Matt Henriksen finished two-for-two with two walks, three runs scored, and three runs batted in courtesy of a three-run homerun in the fifth inning.

Jake Gonzalez also hit a three-run bomb in the third inning out of the cleanup spot.

Sean Callegari picked up the win, allowing nine hits and three runs over seven innings, walking only one and striking out nine. Cody Chartrand got the final three outs to pick up the save.

Thursday, Indians' grip on the Central Division became less certain with a 107 loss to the visiting Saskatoon Yellow Jackets.

Saskatoon improved to 14-15 and moved within four games of the Indians for top spot in the division when they combined 12 hits with six walks and two errors in the win.

Gonzalez now leads the Indians with six homeruns and 21 runs batted in. Local product Chad Schultz got on base with three walks and stole a base as well.
