Ru­man­cik takes Mor­row to the wire

Swift Cur­rent’s Bren­nan Ru­man­cik took Ken Mor­row to not one, but two sud­den death play­off holes be­fore even­tu­ally set­tling for sec­ond place at the Call­away P.G.A. of Saskatchew­an Open.

Ru­man­ick, rep­re­sent­ing the Elm­wood Golf & Coun­try Club, shot a two-un­der­par 70 on day one at The Wil­lows Golf & Coun­try Club to sit in a six-way tie for top spot in the 44-golfer field.

Ru­man­cik and Mor­row, rep­re­sent­ing the Out­look Riverview Golf Club, both shot one-un­der 71’s on day two to fin­ish tied at three un­der. Mor­row went on to de­feat Ru­man­cik in a sec­ond sud­den death hole to claim $1,780 for top spot. Ru­man­cik pock­eted $1,430 for his per­for­mance.

Jeff Gross, golf­ing out of the Chi­nook Golf Club in Swift Cur­rent, was also tied for top spot af­ter day one with an open­ing round 70 to sit two-un­der. He shot an even-par 72 in the sec­ond round to tie for third with a $1,080 pay­out.

Jehremy Ryde, out of the Elm­wood, tied for eighth at one-over-par. He shot a 73 on day one, fol­lowed by a 72 on day two to earn $381.

The Sask Land­ing Golf Re­sort’s Ryan Neustaeter tied for 14th at five-over. He carded a 74 on day one, fol­lowed by a 75 on day two to earn $90.

The field at the fifth edi­tion of the PGA of Saskatchew­an Open was open to all PGA of Saskatchew­an mem­bers, Golf Saskatchew­an am­a­teur mem­bers, and in­di­vid­ual Saskatchew­an res­i­dents as ap­proved by the Tour­na­ment Com­mit­tee.
