Rumancik takes Morrow to the wire
Swift Current’s Brennan Rumancik took Ken Morrow to not one, but two sudden death playoff holes before eventually settling for second place at the Callaway P.G.A. of Saskatchewan Open.
Rumanick, representing the Elmwood Golf & Country Club, shot a two-underpar 70 on day one at The Willows Golf & Country Club to sit in a six-way tie for top spot in the 44-golfer field.
Rumancik and Morrow, representing the Outlook Riverview Golf Club, both shot one-under 71’s on day two to finish tied at three under. Morrow went on to defeat Rumancik in a second sudden death hole to claim $1,780 for top spot. Rumancik pocketed $1,430 for his performance.
Jeff Gross, golfing out of the Chinook Golf Club in Swift Current, was also tied for top spot after day one with an opening round 70 to sit two-under. He shot an even-par 72 in the second round to tie for third with a $1,080 payout.
Jehremy Ryde, out of the Elmwood, tied for eighth at one-over-par. He shot a 73 on day one, followed by a 72 on day two to earn $381.
The Sask Landing Golf Resort’s Ryan Neustaeter tied for 14th at five-over. He carded a 74 on day one, followed by a 75 on day two to earn $90.
The field at the fifth edition of the PGA of Saskatchewan Open was open to all PGA of Saskatchewan members, Golf Saskatchewan amateur members, and individual Saskatchewan residents as approved by the Tournament Committee.
