Shaunavon seniors pushing to retain local STC service
To the editor: The Government of Saskatchewan has declared Seniors’ Week in Saskatchewan from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6, 2013.
We are pleased to accept this recognition and feel it is an appropriate time to take up our cause, once again, to fight for the retention of the STC Service between EastendSwift Current and EastendMossbank.
Earlier this year, we were told service would be discontinued as of May 18. Then, we were advised that this would be extended to Dec. 31, 2013.
By eliminating this service, we are told there would be an annual savings of $140,000. We feel this is a small savings in light of the benefit this service provides. We are attempting to have a meeting with Honourable Don McMorris, Minister Responsible for STC, within a few weeks.
Meantime, we are asking for public support.
