Acombined team from École Secondaire Collège Mathieu and Kincaid won all eight matches to win a seven- team volleyball tournament hosted by the Swift Current Comp. Junior Colts on Friday and Saturday.

Collège Mathieu and Kincaid needed three games to get past Vanguard in the final as they eventually picked up the gold medal ( 25- 19, 21- 15, 15-13).

They had advanced past Hazlet/Leader in the semifinal (25-14, 25-17).

Collège Mathieu and Kincaid cruised through the round robin winning all 12 of their games.

They earned victories over Swift Current (25-20, 25- 9), Ponteix ( 25- 15, 2513), Leader/Hazlet (25-21, 25- 22), Vanguard ( 26- 24, 25- 23), Gravelbourg ( 2927, 26-24), and Fox Valley (25-16, 25-19).

Vanguard had finished third in the round robin with a 6- 6 record before knocking out Ponteix in the quarter- finals ( 17- 25, 26-24, 15-11).

They edged Fox Valley in three games (25-23, 2325, 15- 12) to move into the gold medal match.

Vanguard had picked up round robin wins over Swift Current ( 25- 18, 2516), Ponteix (25-18, 25-18) and Leader/ Hazlet ( 2518, 25-19).

They suffered losses to Gravelbourg ( 21- 25, 2125), Fox Valley (14-25, 19- 25), and ESCM/ Kincaid (24-26, 23-25).

The host Junior Colts had a tough go at home as they failed to win a match and missed the playoffs in seventh spot in the round robin.

Junior Colts head coach Brent Millar pointed out that his team failed to put a complete game together throughout the tournament.

Their best result was a split against Gravelbourg (25-16, 16-25).

They also dropped matches to Ponteix ( 1325, 25-22), Leader/Hazlet ( 17- 25, 21- 25), Vanguard ( 18- 25, 16- 25), Fox Valley ( 10- 25, 24- 26) and ESCM/ Kincaid ( 20- 25, 925).
