Pee­Wee Bron­cos shut out by York­ton Ter­ri­ers

It was a tough weekend for the Swift Cur­rent South­west Ter­mi­nal Pee­Wee Bron­cos when they hosted the South Sask Pee­Wee AA Hockey League’s top dogs.

The York­ton Ter­ri­ers vis­ited Fairview Arena on Satur­day and Sun­day and skated to 6-0 and 5-0 wins over the Pee­Wee Bron­cos to im­prove to 4-0 with 33 goals for and only three against.

Swift Cur­rent dropped to 1-5 on the sea­son af­ter pick­ing up their first win one week ear­lier.

The Pee­Wee Bron­cos were in Melville the pre­vi­ous weekend and split the two-game set against the Mil­lion­aires.

Swift Cur­rent lost the opener 8-1 Satur­day as they spent much of the game short­handed. Ry­land Hor­nung scored the lone goal with an as­sist from Nathan Le­vac. Swift Cur­rent fin­ished one-for­six on the powerplay, while Melville scored three goals on 14 man-ad­van­tages.

The Pee­Wee Bron­cos fell be­hind 1-0 only 17 sec­onds into reg­u­la­tion be­fore scor­ing the next five goals, in­clud­ing three from vet­eran Reed Jacobson.

Melville cut the lead to 5-3 in the sec­ond pe­riod but Swift Cur­rent net­ted the only third-pe­riod goal for a 6-3 fi­nal.

Aaron Toews fin­ished with a goal and two as­sists, while John Priela and Beau Lar­son also tal­lied. Hor­nung, Rhett Ev­jen, and Matt Chris­tian­son also added as­sists and Ja­cob Her­man earned the win in goal.

The Pee­Wee Bron­cos will re­sume their league sched­ule on Nov. 2-3 when the Este­van Bru­ins (1-1-0) visit for two back to back games.
