Colts football team hands out hardware
The Swift Current Comprehensive High School Colts Football team held its annual awards banquet on November 13. The room was filled with players, coaches, parents and those members of the staff and community who helped throughout the season.
The team had a regular season record of 2-4 and were defeated in the first round of playoffs by the Central Cyclones.
Despite the record on the season the Colts came away with a great sense of pride and are looking to their future.
The evening was a time to gather and say thank you to everyone for their contribution.
The Colts welcomed Ed Carleton, University of Saskatchewan Huskies football defensive co-ordinator and Colts Football alumni member, as their guest speaker.
Mr. Carleton spoke to the group about opportunities.
He expressed that each of us is given many chances in our life and by taking advantage of these opportunities we are able to excel to a new level of success.
He spoke of his time as a Colts Football player, his development as a player during university, and spoke of his current position with the Huskies.
The evening saw the retirement of community coach Trevor Fleischfresser.
After 13 years of dedication to the Colts Football program he will be moving on.
The team presented a Jeremy Bresciani Print entitled “Passing the Pride” to say thank you.
The following awards were presented to players:
Most Improved Player — Jonathan Chisholm
Rookie of the Year — Austin Shopa
Lineman of the Year — Coburn Oman
Defensive Player of the Year — Zac Nickel
Offensive Player of the Year — Grady Lamontagne
Heart and Soul Award Grade 9 — Pearce Targerson-Jones

Each of the players contributed to the success of the program and they will be missed. Former Colts player Ed Carleton, now the defensive co- ordinator for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies, was the guest speaker at the Colts Football awards banquet.
