Kyle moves into top spot in Sask Valley Hockey League

The Kyle Elks tacked two more blowout wins onto their unbeaten record in the Sask Valley Hockey League over the weekend.

They opened their home weekend with a 10-2 win over the Central Butte Flyers on Friday.

Danny Williams had two goals and three assists and Justin Williams added three goals and one assist.

Blake Evans and Cory Hodgins both added a goal and an assist. Derek Argue, Leif Gustavson, and Jeff Marshall also scored.

Kendall Day, Dieter Gillanders, Austin Noble, and Colby Schneider all added assists. Jamie Langen picked up the win with 26 saves on 28 shots.

The Elks followed up with a 12-1 win over the visiting Outlook Ice Hawks on Saturday when Justin and Danny Williams each registered two goals and four assists. Casey Rempel added three goals and two assists and Day posted four assists.

Marshall added a goal and two assists and Evans had two goals and one assist.

two Byron Sorensen added a single. Gillanders had a goal and an assist while Colby Schneider scored once. Langen made 18 saves in the win to lower his goals against average to 1.50 and improve his save percentage to .934.

Justin Williams is now tied for second in league scoring with 30 points in seven games.

The Elks took over top spot in the 12-team league with an 8-0-0-0 record. They will be on the road this weekend to visit the Elrose Aces and the Beechy Bombers.
