Cypress Cyclones drop two weekend games

The Cypress Cyclones lost both of their Prairie Junior Hockey League home games over the weekend as they struggled to keep the puck out of their net. Friday, the Cyclones were outshot 58-22 in a 103 loss to the visiting Traveland RV Storm.

The Cyclones did hold an early 1-0 lead on a shorthande­d goal from Keenan Wilson and led 2-1 on a goal from Drew Soderberg before the Storm scored the next nine goals. Wilson added his second of the game with 11 seconds left in regulation to complete his three-point outing. Blake Sanderson and Chris Bartlett added assists in the loss. Dillon Beaudoin took the loss with 36 saves on 44 shots over two periods. Mitch Van Dusen made 12 saves on 14 shots over one period of work.

Saturday, the Cyclones managed 41 shots on goal but suffered a 10-2 loss to the visiting Prince Albert Icehawks as Tyler Gordon made 39 saves in the Prince Albert goal. Tanner Bokor and Wilson scored for the Cyclones with assists from Sanderson, and Brody Beckstand. Beaudoin made 29 saves on 37 shots over two periods in the loss. Van Dusen stopped nine of 11 shots in relief.

The Cyclones finished the weekend with a 2-18-0 record. The Cyclones will be on the road for three road games this weekend. They will open the weekend in Saskatoon Friday against the Royals (15-6-0). They will visit the Tri Town Thunder (12-6-1) Saturday in Carrot River. The Cyclones will also visit the Delisle Chiefs (8-6-4) on Sunday.
