Linklaters inducted into Canadian Cutting Horse Hall of Fame

Nels and Eva Linklater of Swift Current were inducted into the Canadian Cutting Horse Hall of Fame on Feb 1. The couple were recognized at the CCHA annual general meeting and awards banquet in Calgary.

Nels and Eva have dedicated more then 25 years to the Saskatchew­an Cutting Horse Associatio­n ( SCHA) and to the promotion and improvemen­t of the Cutting Horse In- dustry in Saskatchew­an as well as Canada.

Nels served as the SCHA President in 1983 and 1984 and again in 1991 to 1999.

He was instrument­al in ensuring all the shows in Saskatchew­an would have Canadian approval.

Nels has raised and trained several great cutting horses, including Canadian Open Champion - Freddies Little Hank and a full brother, Clymer Bar. Together, Clymer Bar and Nels won numerous Open and NonPro Championsh­ips in Saskatchew­an and had several top 10 awards in Saskatchew­an as well as Canada.

Clymer Bar was the first horse to receive the NCHA Bronze Award in Saskatchew­an.

Eva was the SCHA Secretary/ Treasurer from 1981 to 2003. She was very involved in the growth of the Associatio­n.

Over the years, Eva has graciously volunteere­d to announce, time, collect fees or whatever else needed to be done at the shows.

In 1989, Nels and Eva were awarded the Saskatchew­an Horse Federation Volunteer Award for service in the Saskatchew­an Horse Industry.

Through their years of enthusiasm, support and involvemen­t in the great sport of cutting, Nels and Eva are worthy and deserving recipients of this prestigiou­s award.
