The Elmer Iseler Singers stopping in city as part of 35th anniversary tour
The 2014 portion of the 2013/2014 Swift Current Allied Arts Council Stars for Saskatchewan series kicks off on Feb. 7 when the internationally renown Elmer Iseler Singers take to the stage.
The Elmer Iseler Singers, conducted by Artistic Director Lydia Adams, is a 20voice professional chamber choir based in Toronto. Founded by the late Dr. Elmer Iseler in 1979, the Elmer Iseler Singers is one of Canada’s most illustrious professional choral ensembles.
The choir has built an enviable international reputation through its concerts, broadcasts and more than 50 recordings. Known for its unique beauty of sound, the Elmer Iseler Singers bring to life an exciting repertoire that spans 500 years of great choral music. They are featured at both national and international festivals.
Their 2013-14 season marks the 35th anniversary of the choir as well as the 60th anniversary of professional choral music in Canada. Dr. Iseler launched the renowned Festival Singers at the Stratford Festival in July 1954.
Their Swift Current performance is one of just eight concert dates during their current Western Canada 35th anniversary tour, which includes just two dates in Saskatchewan, a pair of Alberta concerts, plus four worships and performances in the Northwest Territories.
Be sure to catch The Elmer Iseler Singers on Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sky Centre. An extremely limited number of tickets for reserved seating are available.
