Sun­Dogs fin­ish 1-2 in PAC tour­na­ment

The Great Plains Col­lege Sun­Dogs mens’ bas­ket­ball team was in Saskatoon for a Prairie Ath­letic Con­fer­ence tour­na­ment.

The Sun­Dogs went 1- 2 over three games. In their first game against Moose Jaw Pal­liser (SIAST) the Sun­dogs were some­what in­con­sis­tent through­out the game but led early on, be­fore Pal­liser dom­i­nated the last quar­ter and won 59-52.

Jon Neustaeter and Ian Hayes had 13 points each to lead the Sun­Dogs, Ben De­gala and Mar­shall Siemens each had eight points. Marty Funk led the team with six re­bounds and added four points.

In their sec­ond game the Sun­dogs de­feated Bethany Col­lege 65-58.

The Sun­Dogs were down in the first half, but played a strong sec­ond half and held off a late Bethany run. Hayes led with 16 points and 13 re­bounds for a dou­ble-dou­ble.

Funk also had a dou­ble-dou­ble with 14 points and 10 re­bounds and De­gala added 11 points.

In their third game the Sun­Dogs played the host Kelsey. The Sun­Dogs led 35-30 early in the third quar­ter, but strug­gled scor­ing in the sec­ond half and lost 59-40.

Neustaeter and Hayes each led the Sun­Dogs with 11 points, while Hayes added six re­bounds. Mar­shall Siemens added nine points and Funk led with a team high 13 re­bounds and three blocks.

The Sun­Dogs’ are at home this weekedn to host a PAC tour­na­ment.
