SunDogs finish 1-2 in PAC tournament

The Great Plains College SunDogs mens’ basketball team was in Saskatoon for a Prairie Athletic Conference tournament.

The SunDogs went 1- 2 over three games. In their first game against Moose Jaw Palliser (SIAST) the Sundogs were somewhat inconsiste­nt throughout the game but led early on, before Palliser dominated the last quarter and won 59-52.

Jon Neustaeter and Ian Hayes had 13 points each to lead the SunDogs, Ben Degala and Marshall Siemens each had eight points. Marty Funk led the team with six rebounds and added four points.

In their second game the Sundogs defeated Bethany College 65-58.

The SunDogs were down in the first half, but played a strong second half and held off a late Bethany run. Hayes led with 16 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double.

Funk also had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Degala added 11 points.

In their third game the SunDogs played the host Kelsey. The SunDogs led 35-30 early in the third quarter, but struggled scoring in the second half and lost 59-40.

Neustaeter and Hayes each led the SunDogs with 11 points, while Hayes added six rebounds. Marshall Siemens added nine points and Funk led with a team high 13 rebounds and three blocks.

The SunDogs’ are at home this weekedn to host a PAC tournament.
