Lyric Theatre to host Mardi Gras cel­e­bra­tion

Mardi Gras, or Fat Tues­day, is a cel­e­bra­tion with deep his­tor­i­cal roots all over the world. This year, Swift Cur­rent will be­gin its own Mardi Gras tra­di­tion by cel­e­brat­ing the food and mu­sic of Bour­bon St. in New Or­leans.

The Lyric Theatre is host- ing a Mardi Gras themed “Taste It” event. Ad­mis­sion is $15, which in­cludes live mu­si­cal en­ter­tain­ment, a drink, beads and a mask. Food sam­ples will be in­di­vid­u­ally priced so you can try ev­ery­thing and have sec­onds of your favourite.

The vit­tles will be pre­pared by tal­ented lo­cal chef Doug Lam and will in­clude black­ened Ca­jun chicken, jam­bal­aya, étouf­fée with grits, Ca­jun seafood balls, Cre­ole fried rice, shrimp hush pup­pies, bour­bon pecan pie, and more.

Ca­jun mu­sic will be per­formed by lo­cal mu­si­cians Marc Ruel, Michael Eck­ertLyn­gstad, Mar­shall Perry, Amanda Ruel and Ste­wart Wells. En­joy good mu­sic, in­dulge in amaz­ing food, and cel­e­brate Mardi Gras in style at the Lyric Theatre on March 8th.
