Chronic Disease Education offered via Telehealth
In 2014 the Cypress Health Region is hosting a series of monthly education sessions for people dealing with chronic diseases. This series will be offered to many communities in the region through Telehealth technol- ogy. Telehealth means that you can attend an education session in your local community instead of having to travel to a different location. All sessions will have a designated host site and will be available via Telehealth to Cabri, Eastend, Gull Lake, Herbert, Leader, Mankota, Maple Creek, Ponteix, Shaunavon and Swift Current, pending registrations.
All you have to do is register ahead of time and show up. Local health center staff will have everything set up and ready to go and be available to answer any questions and help you communicate with the host site. In 2013, Telehealth saved residents of the health Region more than 140,000 kms of travel.
The initial four sessions are being offered in March, April, May, and June and are listed below. Additional sessions will be offered during the summer and fall months. The time of each session is 1:30-3 p.m. All sessions are free and open to everyone.
March 19 - One Step at a Time; Discussing the importance of staying active in the management of chronic disease.
April 16 - Making the Most of Your Medications; Discussing common medications used to treat chronic diseases, their actions, and how they should be taken.
May 21 - Mind Body Connection and Power Within
