16U SunDogs fourth at Sask Cup in Prince Al­bert

The Swift Cur­rent 16U Boys Ju­nior SunDogs vol­ley­ball team placed fourth at a Sask Cup tour­na­ment in Prince Al­bert over the weekend.

The SunDogs, coached by Adam Wil­son and Bran­don Schultz, won three matches and lost three matches against six dif­fer­ent teams in Prince Al­bert.

They opened the weekend Satur­day af­ter­noon with an easy win over the Lloy­d­min­ster Lake­land Rustlers (25-17, 25-12) and fol­lowed up with an­other win over Regina RVC Gold (26-16, 25-16).

The 16U SunDogs lost their first match against the Prince Al­bert Smash­ing Ba­nanas 15U. They won the first set 25-17 be­fore fall­ing 23-25 and 5-15. They bounced back with a three­set win over Saskatoon Huskies HVS (21-25, 25-21, 16-14) Sun­day morn­ing to win their round robin group.

The SunDogs suf­fered a sec­ond loss when they fell 16-25 and 17-25 to the Prince Al­bert Smash­ing Ba­nanas 16U in the semi-fi­nal and then fin­ished their weekend with a straight set loss to the Edam North­west Fury (20-25, 20-25) in the bronze medal match to place fourth out of nine teams.

The 16U Ju­nior SunDogs will be right back in ac­tion this weekend when head to Saskatoon to com­pete in a tour­na­ment hosted by the Husky Vol­ley­ball Club.
