Swift Cur­rent fencers col­lect medals at provin­cial tour­na­ment

The Swift Cur­rent Fenc­ing Club took part in the Sask Open on March 8 and 9 in Regina. The yearly tour­na­ment stands as the Provin­cial Cham­pi­onships for fenc­ing in the Prov­ince, and Swift Cur­rent fenc­ing stu­dents had an in­cred­i­ble tour­na­ment.

In the U13 Foil Cat­e­gory, Court­lyn Hope took home the Provin­cial Cham­pi­onship, fol­lowed closely by Cort Cor­nel­son and Alex Me­nun for a Swift Cur­rent sweep. Hope also took home a Bronze medal fenc­ing above her age di­vi­sion in the Women’s Di­vi­sion, shar­ing the podium with fel­low Swift Cur­rent team­mate Karin Roen, who also took home a Bronze in the di­vi­sion.

Sound re­sults that were led by ex­am­ple in Coach Lisa Ha­gen who medaled in three di­vi­sions, tak­ing Gold in the Masters di­vi­sion in Foil, a Sil­ver medal in Se­nior Women’s Foil, and a Bronze in Se­nior Women’s Epee.

“I’m very proud of all my fencers,” says Ha­gen. “They prac­tice hard and it shows ev­ery time they step onto the piste.”
