Janke earns Academic All-District honours

Swift Current’s Travis Janke has been recognized for a successful season on the ice and in the classroom after being named to the Collegiate Sports Informatio­n Directors of America/Capital One Academic All-District I At-Large squad. Janke, who just completed his senior season with the Norwich University Men’s Hockey Team in Vermont, boasts a 3.76 overall grade point average while pursuing a Business Management/Accounting Major.

On the ice, Janke was tied for eighth nationally in scoring with 16 goals and 38 points in leading the Norwich Cadets to their 16th Eastern College Athletic Conference Ease regular season title. Skating as co-captain this season, Janke capped a four-year career with the Cadets with a series of individual accolades, including American Hockey Coaches Associatio­n (AHCA) First Team East Region, New England Division II-III All-Star, ECAC East First Team All-Conference, Norwich University Male Senior Athlete of the Year, NU Scholar-Athlete team and ECAC East AllAcademi­c team honors. Janke never missed a Cadets game during his four year career, helping the squad compile a 90-20-8 record over that span. He finished his collegiate career tied for 12th on the all-time points list with 154. He also ranks tied for sixth in alltime assists with an even 100 helpers to go along with 54 career goals. During his final season with the Notre Dame Hounds in 20092010, the former Swift Current Home Hardware AAA Midget Legionnair­es forward was the Saskatchew­an Junior Hockey League’s leading scorer with 36 goals and 83 points.
