Duck Derby makes a splash

The 26th anniversary edition of the Southwest Crisis Services Duck Derby had an unusual start but in the end there was still an exciting finish to the fundraiser.

A total of $5,400 was raised in support of Southwest Crisis Services programming. Southwest Crisis Services provides violence prevention education and numerous support services for those experiencing abuse and crisis across the Southwest region and will celebrate their 30th anniversary in October.

Nicole Willows of Swift Current won the draw for $1,001, while Swift Current’s June Roy won the $800 Pio- neer Co-op Gift Card. Jason Paradis from Swift Current won the $500 Trees Meat Pack Gift Certificate. Tania Reed from the City won the $200 Sentiments Home Gift Certificate and duck cutting board. The $200 Vector Plus Stand Golf Bag donated by Stark & Marsh Chartered Accountants was won by Gladys Aneroid.

“We are so grateful for the support of our sponsors and the people across the southwest who bought tickets – not just this year but for 26 straight years, thank you,” said Southwest Crisis Services Executive Director Heather Lennox.
