Duck Derby makes a splash

The 26th anniversar­y edition of the Southwest Crisis Services Duck Derby had an unusual start but in the end there was still an exciting finish to the fundraiser.

A total of $5,400 was raised in support of Southwest Crisis Services programmin­g. Southwest Crisis Services provides violence prevention education and numerous support services for those experienci­ng abuse and crisis across the Southwest region and will celebrate their 30th anniversar­y in October.

Nicole Willows of Swift Current won the draw for $1,001, while Swift Current’s June Roy won the $800 Pio- neer Co-op Gift Card. Jason Paradis from Swift Current won the $500 Trees Meat Pack Gift Certificat­e. Tania Reed from the City won the $200 Sentiments Home Gift Certificat­e and duck cutting board. The $200 Vector Plus Stand Golf Bag donated by Stark & Marsh Chartered Accountant­s was won by Gladys Aneroid.

“We are so grateful for the support of our sponsors and the people across the southwest who bought tickets – not just this year but for 26 straight years, thank you,” said Southwest Crisis Services Executive Director Heather Lennox.
