Midget Indians drop two in Saskatoon
The Swift Current Midget Indians dropped both weekend Saskatchewan Premier Midget AAA Baseball League games when they visited the Saskatoon Diamondbacks for a double header Saturday.
The Indians allowed six runs in the sixth inning to drop the opener 9-5. Reid Fritzke finished two-forfour with a run scored in the loss. Darby Crozier had the only run batted in for the Tribe. BJ Moen made the start and allowed only three hits, three walks, and one run over four innings while striking out six.
The Indians dropped the second game 3-2 in a pitching duel that featured only 10 hits over seven innings. Reid Fritzke and Crozier each had RBI doubles in the win.
Tanner Fritzke made the start and allowed only three hits and one earned run over 4 2/3 innings for a 2.71 earned run average on the season.
Reid Fritzke is now leading the SPBL with a .538 batting average, while Moen is third among pitchers with 27 strikeouts.
The Indians will be on the road this weekend for a doubleheader against the Southeast Twins Saturday.
They will host the Saskatoon Cubs for a doubleheader on Sunday at 1 and 3 p.m. at Mitchell Field.
