Midget In­di­ans drop two in Saskatoon

The Swift Cur­rent Midget In­di­ans dropped both weekend Saskatchew­an Pre­mier Midget AAA Base­ball League games when they vis­ited the Saskatoon Di­a­mond­backs for a dou­ble header Satur­day.

The In­di­ans al­lowed six runs in the sixth in­ning to drop the opener 9-5. Reid Fritzke fin­ished two-forfour with a run scored in the loss. Darby Crozier had the only run bat­ted in for the Tribe. BJ Moen made the start and al­lowed only three hits, three walks, and one run over four in­nings while strik­ing out six.

The In­di­ans dropped the sec­ond game 3-2 in a pitch­ing duel that fea­tured only 10 hits over seven in­nings. Reid Fritzke and Crozier each had RBI dou­bles in the win.

Tan­ner Fritzke made the start and al­lowed only three hits and one earned run over 4 2/3 in­nings for a 2.71 earned run aver­age on the sea­son.

Reid Fritzke is now leading the SPBL with a .538 batting aver­age, while Moen is third among pitch­ers with 27 strike­outs.

The In­di­ans will be on the road this weekend for a dou­ble­header against the South­east Twins Satur­day.

They will host the Saskatoon Cubs for a dou­ble­header on Sun­day at 1 and 3 p.m. at Mitchell Field.
