Swift Cur­rent res­i­dent suc­cumbs to in­juries af­ter car crash in Wey­burn

A78-year-old man from Swift Cur­rent passed away in hospi­tal on Wed­nes­day af­ter suf­fer­ing se­ri­ous in­juries af­ter be­ing ejected from the car he was a pas- sen­ger in dur­ing a June 3 car crash near Wey­burn. His name is not be­ing re­leased at this time.

RCMP re­port the Swift Cur­rent man was a pas­sen­ger in a car be­ing driven by a 26-year-old man from Al­berta when they were in­volved in a two ve­hi­cle col­li­sion at the in­ter­sec­tion of High­way #39 and the Wey­burn In­land Ter­mi­nal ac­cess road south of Wey­burn. The RCMP in­ves­ti­ga­tion de­ter­mined the 2002 Chrysler In­trepid had pro­ceeded from the ac­cess road when un­safe to do so and was struck by a 2006 Toy­ota Ta­coma which was driv­ing on High­way #39.

The Swift Cur­rent man was air­lifted by STARS to Regina and he re­mained hos­pi­tal­ized with his in­juries. The 26-year-old driver was also taken to hospi­tal with un­de­ter­mined in­juries. The sole in­di­vid­ual in the Ta­coma, a 56-year-old from Mi­dale, was taken to Wey­burn Hospi­tal for treat­ment and has since been re­leased. RCMP con­tinue to in­ves­ti­gate the ac­ci­dent.
