Canadian Tire Garden Centre recognized with Best Summer Seasonal Award
Gardeners with green thumbs have helped Swift Current’s Canadian Tire store earn a national Canadian Tire Marketing and Merchandising Award for their Garden Centre.
This past week Michel Deguire, Dealer of Swift Current’s Canadian Tire store was presented The Best Summer Seasonal Award for Canadian Tire stores the same size as Swift Current.
“This is our pride and joy, our Garden Centre,” Deguire said shortly after receiving the company award. “Summer doesn’t start until we get going on our Garden Centre, so this is pretty much the start of summer.”
The criteria for the recognition includes merchandizing, depth of product, and sales achievements.
“Customers ask us to bring in more and different products, and we keep on trying to make it exciting and new every year,” Deguire said.
“The recognition is that we’ve developed a market for nursery and gardening products that differentiates us from our competition. We are recognized as one of the best in the country with Canadian Tire, and that shows to our other associates what’s the potential in this business. We are a small store and we outperform stores in much bigger markets.
“It’s exciting to be recognized as the best,” Deguire admitted, but quickly added, “the challenge is staying the best.”
Jeff Smith, Regional Vice President for Canadian Tire Corp. said the award is not an easy recognition to accomplish.
“It’s a pretty prestigious award,” Smith said, noting Swift Current beat out other nominated Canadian Tire stores from coast to coast.
