Fa­mil­iar names atop Unity CCA rodeo

Some fa­mil­iar South­west rodeo com­peti­tors were among the money win­ners at a Cana­dian Cow­boys’ As­so­ci­a­tion stop in Unity. Nine South­west cow­boys and two cow­girls won money at Unity Western Days, in­clud­ing two event win­ners.

Swift Cur­rent’s Lin­den Woods earned 80 points on Bor­der Town to win Bare­back and $547 in Unity. Maple Creek’s Brady Ber­tram was right be­hind him in sec­ond with 79 points on 42 Be­low for $410. Tomp­kins’ Ja­son Hofer tied for fourth with 75 points on Big Shot for $68.

Brady Resch grabbed the other win for the South­west in Unity. The Maple Creek cow­boy topped Ju­nior Steer Rid­ing with a 75-point score to earn $189. Lancer’s Cole Hart­man was right be­hind in sec­ond spot with 70 points for $141.

Waldeck’s Tuftin McLeod worked with Moose Jaw’s Jim-Bob Gom­m­er­sall to place sec­ond in Team Rop­ing in 6.3 sec­onds for $1,624. Mark El­lis (Son­ning­dale) and Tim Sch­nit­zler (Vans­coy) won the event in 6.1 sec­onds.

Swift Cur­rent’s Blaine Switzer just missed a win when he placed sec­ond in Tie Down Rop­ing in 9.6 sec­onds for $656. Waldeck’s Tuftin McLeod tied for sixth in Tie Down in 12.0 sec­onds for $68.

Maple Creek’s Hal­lie An­der­son was also sec­ond in Ju­nior Girls Bar­rel Rac­ing in 18.28 sec­onds for $162.

She was fol­lowed closely by Maple Creek’s Mardi Yarshenko in 18.29 sec­onds in third spot for $162. Don­alda’s Shaylee Mcmann won the event in 17.75 sec­onds.

Pi­apot’s Casey Ber­tram tied for fourth in Sad­dle Bronc with a 75-point ride on Colt 45 for $168.

South­west rodeo fans will be able to catch the CCA rodeo tour at Fron­tier Days in Swift Cur­rent on June 27-29.
