Former Swift Current Broncos forward Dale Weise appears to have found a home with his third National Hockey League team.

The gritty forward signed a two- year contract extension with the Montreal Canadiens after a breakout playoff performance.

Weise had seven points in 16 playoff games with the Canadiens, including two game winning goals to tie for the team lead.

He was acquired from the Vancouver Canucks in a trade on February 3, 2014 in exchange for defenseman Raphael Diaz.

“The acquisition of Dale Weise contributed to the success of our team this season. A young veteran with a lot of charac- ter, Dale is an intense player with a strong work ethic. We’re very pleased to have him as part of our team moving forward,” said Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin in the team’s press release.

Weise totaled six goals and 10 assists in 61 regular season games with Vancouver and Montreal.

The 6’2’’, 210 lbs winger added 59 penalty minutes, 103 hits and a + 3 rating while averaging 8:25 of ice time this season.

He has 30 points in 179 regular season NHL games and seven points in 22 playoff games.

Weise was drafted by the New York Rangers in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL Draft after three seasons in Swift Current.
