Five event winners at Eston Rodeo

Southwest cowboys won five events at the Eston Rodeo on June 6-7. A total of 14 Southwest cowboys and cowgirls brought home money from Eston.

Lucky Lake’s Tyler Getz cashed the biggest cheque after winning Tie Down Roping in 9.1 seconds for $584. Swift Current’s Blaine Switzer was just off the pace in 9.2 seconds in second spot for $483. Val Marie’s Wyatt Hayes tied for fourth in 10.0 seconds for $141.

Maple Creek’s Ross Kreutzer added a win in Saddle Bronc after an 80-point ride on Sky Fall for $493. Mike Gordon, also out of Maple Creek, tied for fifth with a 74point ride for $119.

Swift Current’s Linden Woods came out on top of Bareback in Eston after a 78point ride on Yonker for $382. Maple Creek’s Brady Bertram had a 77-point ride on Whisky Drummer to place second for $294.

Maple Creek’s Lane Link tied for top spot in Novice Bareback with a 63-point ride to tie Bengough’s Patrick Gravelle for $105 apiece. Leader’s Cody Resch rounded out the Southwest winners when he topped Novice Saddle Bronc with a 72-point ride for $141. Maple Creek’s Nolan Jans was second with a 64point ride for $109.

Mankota’s Bailey Briere finished second in Junior Girls Barrel Racing in 13.97 seconds for $129. Maple Creek’s Mardi Yarshenko followed closely behind in third spot in 13.98 seconds for $86. St. Paul, Alberta’s Elizabeth Lukacs won the event in 13.56 seconds.

Maple Creek’s Tanner Jones worked with Justin Dubeau (Red Cliff ) to tie for second in Team Roping in 6.7 seconds for $977. Robert and Martin Geis (Mossbank) won the event in 6.3 seconds.

Maple Creek’s Cali Yarshenko finished sixth in Ladies Barrel Racing in 13.70 seconds for $249. The event was led by Wood Mountain’s Nicole Pana in 13.30 seconds.

The CCA will be in the Southwest this weekend for Frontier Days in Swift Current from Friday until Sunday.
