Strong junior results at Foremost Rodeo
Junior competitors led the Southwest at the Foremost Rodeo in the midst of a busy Canadian Cowboys’ Association schedule.
The Southwest produced 11 money-winning performances, including two junior event winners during the two-day rodeo.
Maple Creek’s Brady Resch came up with a victory in Junior Steer Riding after a 74-point ride for $270.
Maple Creek’s Hallie Anderson added a win in Junior Girls Barrel Racing in 15.10 seconds for $344. She was followed closely by Mankota’s Bailey Briere in second spot in 15.14 seconds for $285. Maple Creek’s Mardi Yarshenko placed fifth in 15.43 seconds for $106 as well.
Tuftin McLeod was back in the money in Foremost when the Waldeck cowboy placed second in Tie Down Roping in 10.1 seconds for $684. Clark Hughson, roping in his hometown, won the event in 9.3 seconds.
The McLeod family had a second money-winning performance when Tee and Tyce placed second in Team Roping in 8.1 seconds for $1,764.
The hometown team of Cody O’donnell and Vane Hughson won the event in 7.1 seconds. Shamrock’s Kevin Turner combined with Garrett Brownlee to place third in 8.4 seconds for $1,499. Maple Creek’s Tanner Jones also worked with Justin Dubeau to place sixth in 11.9 seconds for $705.
Leader’s Cody Resch placed third in Saddle Bronc with a 68-point ride aboard City Line for $444. Wood Mountain’s Rhett Fitzpatrick scored 76 points on Rotten Ralph to win the event.
