Colourful en­tries earn top prizes at 2014 Fron­tier Days Pa­rade

With a record of over 125 en­tries, the Swift Cur­rent Fron­tier Days and Cen­ten­nial Home­com­ing Pa­rade was a colourful treat for large crowds lin­ing the pa­rade route on June 28.

Mu­sic was a big part of this year’s pa­rade, with the Swift Cur­rent Shrine Band, Swift Cur­rent March­ing Band, Cen­tral School Choir, the Roughrider Pep Band along with the Cal­liope from the Saskatoon Western De­vel­op­ment Mu­seum among the en­ter­tain­ment pro­vided dur­ing the 45 minute long pa­rade.

Win­ning en­tries from Satur­day’s pa­rade were:

Grand Award — Liv­ing Sky Casino

Theme Award — Army Paint Ball and Red Hot Ros­ters Paint Ball Team.

Cars: 1920s – Keith and Bev Ha­gan; 1930s – Wayne and Con­nie Soren­son; 1950s – Mel and Carol Knock­aert; 1960s – Sheila Wicks; 1970s – Gorel Lang; 1980 – Den­nis Dickie; 1990s – Randy Koup; 2000s – Sean Bout­ter; 2010s – Brian and Del Saun­der.

Com­mu­nity: 1st – Red Hat Ad­ven­tures; 2nd – Saskatchew­an Abil­i­ties Coun­cil

4H: 1st – Burn­ham 4H Club; 2nd – Hal­lon­quist 4H Club.

Commercial: 1st – Cen­tral School; 2nd – Liv­ing Sky Casino.

Best Dec­o­rated Horse and Rider: 1st – Sky­line Rid­ers; 2nd - Western De­vel­op­ment Mu­seum Stage Coach.

An­tique: 1st – O’Rudy’s Creek House Treats Ltd.; 2nd – Doc’s Town Her­itage Vil­lage.
