Colourful entries earn top prizes at 2014 Frontier Days Parade
With a record of over 125 entries, the Swift Current Frontier Days and Centennial Homecoming Parade was a colourful treat for large crowds lining the parade route on June 28.
Music was a big part of this year’s parade, with the Swift Current Shrine Band, Swift Current Marching Band, Central School Choir, the Roughrider Pep Band along with the Calliope from the Saskatoon Western Development Museum among the entertainment provided during the 45 minute long parade.
Winning entries from Saturday’s parade were:

Theme Award — Army Paint Ball and Red Hot Rosters Paint Ball Team.
Cars: 1920s – Keith and Bev Hagan; 1930s – Wayne and Connie Sorenson; 1950s – Mel and Carol Knockaert; 1960s – Sheila Wicks; 1970s – Gorel Lang; 1980 – Dennis Dickie; 1990s – Randy Koup; 2000s – Sean Boutter; 2010s – Brian and Del Saunder.
Community: 1st – Red Hat Adventures; 2nd – Saskatchewan Abilities Council
4H: 1st – Burnham 4H Club; 2nd – Hallonquist 4H Club.
Commercial: 1st – Central School; 2nd – Living Sky Casino.
Best Decorated Horse and Rider: 1st – Skyline Riders; 2nd - Western Development Museum Stage Coach.
Antique: 1st – O’Rudy’s Creek House Treats Ltd.; 2nd – Doc’s Town Heritage Village.
There were lots of bright and colourful entries in the Centennial Homecoming edition of the Frontier Days Parade in Swift Current on June 28.
A large number of innovative bicycle entries were featured during the Frontier Days Kiddies Day Parade on June 26.
