Swift Current Dog Park gearing up for Aug. 3 grand opening
Hours of volunteer time and labour will be saluted on Aug. 3 when the Swift Current Dog Park celebrates their official Grand Opening.
The Dog Park has made amazing progress over the past two years, turning from a concept idea into a usable park space for dogs on Patterson Drive (east of Elmwood Golf Course). Park organizers are now hoping that a full park design submitted to the city will be approved and then a new round of fundraising can begin for various park features that will make it a park where dogs will be glad to bring their owners.
Grand Opening events on Aug. 3 run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., with free doggie bags to the first 20 dogs to attend. A formal ribbon cutting ceremony will be hosted at 2:30 p.m., followed by an RCMP Canine demonstration, a reveal of the proposed park design,
draws for doggie related baskets and items, a 50/50 draw, tours of the dog park. In case the Aug. 3 event is rained out, an alternate date of Monday August 4 has been set.
