wo south­west foot­ball teams are ad­vanc­ing to SHSAA provin­cial semi­fi­nals! In the 1A six-man quar­ter fi­nals on Nov. 1, the Gull Lake Lions de­feated the Ker­robert Rebels at home by a score of 59-40. They will now host the Car­rot River Wild­cats on Satur­day, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.

In the 2A nine-man quar­ter fi­nals, the Shau­navon Shad­ows trav­elled to Kin­der­s­ley and won by a score of 34-7. The Shad­ows will now travel to Hum­boldt to take on the Mo­hawks on Satur­day, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. Good luck

Tto both teams! Should ei­ther team ad­vance, the provin­cial fi­nals are set for Satur­day, Nov. 15. The SWAC se­nior volleyball league cham­pi­onships were held in Her­bert. The girls' fi­nals started on Oct. 28 with #1 Her­bert de­feat­ing #4 Gull Lake 25-11, 25-15. This was fol­lowed by #2 Ha­zlet de­feat­ing #3 Van­guard 25-13, 2521. The con­so­la­tion fi­nal saw Gull Lake fin­ish on a win­ning note de­feat­ing Van­guard 25-18, 25-18. The fi­nal saw the Lau­rels re­peat as league champs, de­feat­ing Ha­zlet 25-15, 25-18. Con­grats to the Lau­rels and their coaches Jen­nifer Doll and Crys­tal Boor­man!

The boys' fi­nal on Oct. 29 started with an up­set when the #4 Shau­navon Shad­ows de­feated #1 Her­bert 25-16, 6-25, 25-20. The sec­ond match saw #2 Fron­tier beat #3 Van­guard 2517, 25-18. In the con­so­la­tion fi­nal, Her­bert de­feated Van­guard 25-16, 25-20. The fi­nal saw the Fron­tier Raiders win the ti­tle for the sec­ond year in a row, de­feat­ing Shau­navon 2518, 25-13. Con­grats to the Raiders and their coaches Kee­gan Ham and Len Fyfe!

The ju­nior volleyball fi­nals are well un­der­way. Thanks to sub­sec­tion and sec­tion hosts Wy­mark girls, Swift Cur­rent Comp. grade 9 girls, Pon­teix boys, Con­sul girls, Eas­t­end boys, Leader girls and boys. The teams ad­vanc­ing to the ju­nior dis­trict fi­nals are: Rolling Hills A girls win­ner – Waldeck Rolling Hills B girls win­ner – O.M. Ir­win Rolling Hills B boys win­ner – Wy­mark Cy­press Hills girls win­ners – 1st Fox Val­ley, 2nd Ha­zlet Cy­press Hills boys win­ners – 1st Leader, 2nd Fox Val­ley White­mud girls win­ners – 1st Shau­navon, 2nd Fron­tier White­mud boys win­ners – 1st Eas­t­end, 2nd Shau­navon.

There is one sub­sec­tion left to be played – Rolling Hills A boys – which will take place Nov. 3. The above teams will ad­vance to our dis­trict fi­nals set for Satur­day, Nov. 15. Lo­ca­tions TBA.

Our se­nior volleyball teams will also be start­ing SHSAA volleyball play­offs. The first week­end of com­pe­ti­tion will be Nov. 8 when the girls start con­fer­ence play. We host at three dif­fer­ent lo­ca­tions.

In the 1A cat­e­gory, Pon­teix girls will host Cabri, Eas­t­end, Fron­tier, Ha­zlet and Van­guard. Games will start at 10 a.m.

In the 2A cat­e­gory, Fox Val­ley girls will host Her­bert, Leader and Beechy. Games will start at 10 a.m.

In the 4A girls' cat­e­gory, Maple Creek will host Kin­der­s­ley, Out­look and Rose­town with a 10 a.m. start time. Gull Lake and Shau­navon girls will play in the 3A cat­e­gory on the road at Assini­boia.

Our boys' teams will start con­fer­ence play on Satur­day, Nov. 15. We host at one lo­ca­tion – Pon­teix. Pon­teix will host Cabri, Fox Val­ley, Fron­tier, and Van­guard. Start time will be 9 a.m.

The Swift Cur­rent Comp. Colts will be host­ing 5A boys' re­gional play on Nov. 14/15. Teams par­tic­i­pat­ing in­clude York­ton Re­gional, Bal­go­nie, Moose Jaw Pea­cock, Moose Jaw Vanier, Este­van, Wey­burn and the Comp.
