MNP comes together to Drive Away Hunger

- SUBMITTED

MNP, in support of the Farm Credit Canada (FCC) Drive Away Hunger Program, has raised a grand total of 54,072 pounds in food and cash donations for folks across Saskatchewan through their various Saskatchewan offices.

“It’s amazing to see how this initiative really pulls the province together in support of such a worthy cause. It was a great experience for all MNP offices across Saskatchewan,” says MNP Regional Managing Partner for South Saskatchewan, Trina Warren.

Although the total in itself is remarkable, what’s more impressive was the support shown by the local Swift Current and Shau- navon offices as they were able to raise an incredible 11,054 pounds in cash and food of that total themselves.

With 76 team members across both offices, that’s equivalent to nearly 158 pounds of food raised per person, a feat that should greatly benefit the food banks across the prairies.

Nine MNP offices across the province took part in a competitive, provincial food drive in support of their local food banks, with a goal to beat their total raised in 2012 of 33,000 pounds of food.

The FCC Drive Away Hunger program is a unique food drive concept that focuses on reducing hunger in rural Canada. Since 2004, this event has raised over 22 million pounds of food for food banks across Canada.

“It goes without saying that at this time of year, it is crucial our local food banks are fully stocked and able to serve those within the community who are in need,” says Warren. “It is very rewarding to know that the MNP donations have contributed to making a difference. I’m proud of what our team was able to do for this community.”
