RCMP busy across the Southwest

Both the Swift Current and Shaunavon RCMP have dealt with some serious offences over the past few weeks.

On November 12, the Swift Current General Investigat­ion Section of the RCMP, assisted by the Swift Current Rural RCMP, Swift Current City RCMP, Swift Current Ident and Police Dog Services executed a search warrant on a rural property just West of Swift Current and a pickup truck. The search located firearms, various weapons and controlled substances, including cocaine and marijuana.

Caleb Vaughn Acker, age 31 years old was been arrested and harged with the following offences: Possession of cannabis marijuana and cocaine; Possession of cocaine for the purpose of traffickin­g; Careless storage and transporta­tion of firearms; Three counts of Possession of firearms while unauthoriz­ed; Possession of a Prohibited firearm with readily available ammunition; Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace.

This matter is still under investigat­ion.

At approximat­ely 3 p.m. on Nov. 18, Shaunavon RCMP received a call of an erratic driver in Shaunavon.

Shaunavon RCMP have charged Jessie New, 18, with the following offences: Impaired operation of a motor vehicle; Refusal to give a breath sample; Resist arrest; Mischief; Dangerous driving; and leaving the scene of an accident. New will appear in Provincial Court in Shaunavon on Feb. 5.

In addition, at approximat­ely 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 16, Shaunavon RCMP received a call advising of a possible impaired driver on Highway #37 north of Shaunavon. RCMP have charged Travis Kurtz, 27, with the following offences: Impaired operation of a motor vehicle; Flight from police; and Dangerous driving. Kurtz will appear in Provincial Court in Shaunavon on Feb. 5 to answer to the charges.
