The Swift Current K Motel Hurricanes picked up a pair of wins in three South Saskatchewan Midget AA Hockey League games last week.

The Hurricanes got the week off to a good start Wednesday when they defeated the visiting Notre Dame Argos 8-3 to avenge a 4-0 road loss to the Argos just five days earlier.

The Hounds took a 1-0 lead 5:46 into the first period before the Hurricanes scored five straight goals to take control of the game. The Argos made a game out of it with two goals to close out the second period for a 5-3 Swift Current lead after 40 minutes.

Parker Wall scored twice in the third period to complete his hat trick as the Hurricanes scored three unanswered goals.

Wall paced the offence with three goals and an assist, while defenseman Brody Knelsen scored twice and added an assist. Braden Wittmier had a goal and an assist and Devon Schultz and Drieden Gauthier both had two-assist outings.

Marcus Kouri and Braden Levac also scored, while Carter Tangen, Taylor Cowie, Rhett Carlson, Josh Nimegeers, and Dylan Rossiter all added assists. Blade Roh picked up the win in goal as he helped the team kill off all eight shorthanded situations.

Saturday, the Hurricanes let three one-goal leads slip through their fingers in a 4-3 loss to the host Regina Vics. The Hurricanes led on goals from Wall, Nimegeers, and Cowie but Regina tied the game each time and then won when Isaac Sandomirsky scored the only goal of the third period.

Gautheir, Knelsen, and Rossiter all had assists in the loss.

Sunday, the Hurricanes got back into the win column with a 9-0 shutout of the host Lumsden/Bethune Lions, outshooting them 50-18 in the process.

Tangen led the way with two goals and an assist, Rossiter had a goal and two assists, and Riley Couch added three assists.

Gauthier and Kouri both scored twice, Knelsen had a goal and an assist, and Wittmier had two assists. Nimegeers also scored, while Ryan Evans and Wall added assists as Roh picked up the win in goal.

The Hurricanes finished the weekend in sixth spot in the standings with an 87-1 record.

The Hurricanes will have only one game this weekend when they visit the Moose Jaw Warriors (54-3) on Saturday. Their next home game will be December 13 when they host the Regina Vics (4-8-2).
