Three Broncos ranked by Central Scouting

-

Three Swift Current Broncos were listed on the Central Scouting Services November Players To Watch list.

Forward Jake DeBrusk and Glenn Gawdin and goaltender Landon Bow were among 59 Western Hockey League players listed by National Hockey League Central Scouting for the 2015 NHL Draft.

NHL Central Scouting identifies players with a rating system that includes four ratings. The ‘A’ rating indicates a first round candidate, a ‘B’ rating indicates a second/third round candidate, and a ‘ C’ rating indicates a fourth/fifth/sixth round candidate. An ‘ LV’ rating indicates limited viewing of injured players who have not had sufficient viewings to be categorized.

Eight WHL players were assigned an ‘A’ rating, including Mathew Barzal of the Seattle Thunderbirds, Paul Bittner of the Portland Winterhawks, Brandon Carlo of the TriCity Americans, Jansen Harkins of the Prince George Cougars, Ivan Provorov of the Brandon Wheat Kings, Nick Merkley of the Kelowna Rockets, and Broncos’ forwards Jake DeBrusk and Glenn Gawdin.

Bow, 19, was among seven goaltenders listed and was assigned a ‘C’ rating. The 6’4’’ St. Albert product led the WHL with a 2.08 goals against average, .936 save percentage, and five shutouts in his first season as the Broncos starter after two seasons of backing up Eetu Laurikainen. He was drafted in the fourth round, 77th overall, by the Broncos in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.

DeBrusk, 18, was tied for second on the team with 10 goals and was third with 22 points in 25 games. The Edmonton product was drafted by the Broncos in the seventh round, 137th overall, in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.

Gawdin, 17, had seven goals, 11 assists, and a plus-six rating in 25 games this season at the time of the rankings. Gawdin, a Richmond, B.C. native, was drafted fifth overall by the Broncos in the 2012 Bantam Draft.
