Legionnaires stretch winning streak to three game
The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires concluded a busy month in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League at home against the Saskatoon Blazers over the weekend. They won both games for a rare threegame winning streak.
Saturday, Connor Odelein scored with 1:42 left in regulation to clinch a 6-5 win in a back-andforth contest. Jake Leschyshyn had scored for the Blazers only 10 seconds earlier to tie the game, seven minutes after Bryce Hall had scored shorthanded for the Legionnaires for a 5-4 lead.
The Legionnaires scored the first goal of the game only to trail 2-1 after one period. They fell behind 3-1 in the second period before scoring twice to tie the game 3-3 heading into the third period. The two teams traded five goals in the third period but the Legionnaires would finish on top with three of them for their second straight win.
Caleb Lumbard picked up his first SMAAAHL win in goal with 28 saves on 33 shots. Austin Swystun took the loss after allowing six goals on 35 shots.
