Le­gion­naires stretch win­ning streak to three game


The Swift Cur­rent Home Hard­ware Le­gion­naires con­cluded a busy month in the Saskatchew­an Mid­get AAA Hockey League at home against the Saska­toon Blaz­ers over the week­end. They won both games for a rare three­game win­ning streak.

Satur­day, Con­nor Odelein scored with 1:42 left in reg­u­la­tion to clinch a 6-5 win in a back-and­forth contest. Jake Leschyshyn had scored for the Blaz­ers only 10 seconds ear­lier to tie the game, seven min­utes after Bryce Hall had scored short­handed for the Le­gion­naires for a 5-4 lead.

The Le­gion­naires scored the first goal of the game only to trail 2-1 after one pe­riod. They fell be­hind 3-1 in the sec­ond pe­riod be­fore scor­ing twice to tie the game 3-3 head­ing into the third pe­riod. The two teams traded five goals in the third pe­riod but the Le­gion­naires would fin­ish on top with three of them for their sec­ond straight win.

Caleb Lum­bard picked up his first SMAAAHL win in goal with 28 saves on 33 shots. Austin Swys­tun took the loss after al­low­ing six goals on 35 shots.
