PSC wins battle of unbeaten teams

BThe Swift Current Adult Indoor Soccer Leagues hit the holiday break on a high with some exciting matchups in both the men’s and women’s divisions.

PSC won a first-place showdown to finish the first half with a flawless 6-0 record on the mens’ side. They defeated the Timbits 9-4 to hand the upstart youngsters their first loss of the season. The Timbits had entered the game with a 5-0 record and continue to sit in second spot in the standings.

Selecta defeated Some Bugs 1-0 and now sit third with a 2-2-2 record, while Millar is fourth at 1-5-2 and Some Bugs are fifth at 0-5-1.

The Timbits’ Jim Sadden took over the scoring lead with a big week as he now leads the Golden Boot race with 13 goals in six games. PSC’s Ricardo Bravo is second with 11 goals and the Timbits’ Jaden Haubrich is third with eight goals.

The Soup-A-Stars regained top spot in the womens’ standings with a 3- 0 win over the Goal Diggers to finish 2014 with a 4-0-2 record, one point ahead of the Spitting Llamas (4-2-1).

The Millar Edge made a big move on the final day of action with wins over the Goal Diggers and the Spitting Llamas to move within one point of top spot with a 3-3-4 record.

Soup-A-Stars’ teammates Brooke Vallee and Ali Vance are tied for the womens’ Golden Boot lead with six goals each. Millar’s Rachel Friesen and Leanne Jenzen, the Spitting Llamas’ Kelsey Therrien, and the Soup-A-Stars’ Sydney Hope are all tied for third with four goals apiece.

Both the mens’ and womens’ leagues will return to action on Jan. 6 with the playoffs slated to begin on Feb. 9.
