Chinook School Division sports report
The SWAC senior basketball league entered its second week of action for the girls with two games on Dec. 16.
The Maple Creek Rebelles got their first win of the season with a 35-16 win over the visiting Frontier Raiders.
The Rebelles’ top scorers were Allison Harrigan and Jordyn Bock both with six points, while Avery Evenson replied with 12 for Frontier.
The other game saw the Gull Lake Lady Lions defeat the host Swift Current Jr. Ardens 54-35. The Lions were led by Mikayla Hassard with 18 points, followed by Shianna Wedrick with 12.
The Jr. Ardens’ top scorer was Callie Kay-MacMillan with 10 points.
The boys saw their first week of league action on the 16th. The Herbert Laurels travelled to Maple Creek and came away with a 79-43 win.
Frank Meyers had 25 points in the win with Zeke Barraquio and Kurt Robertson both adding 13. The Rebels’ top scorer was Justice Smith with 14 points.
The other game saw the Shaunavon Shadows defeat the host Swift Current Jr. Colts 86-35.
Travis Kirkpatrick led all Shadows with 22 points, followed by Jordan Voll with 19. Kelton Dyck and Regan Martin both replied with seven points for the Colts.
