Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation lotteries making a difference

- BY SEAN FINELL SPECIAL EVENTS/PUBLIC RELATIONS COORDINATOR, DR. NOBLE IRWIN REGIONAL HEALTHCARE FOUNDATION

The Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation is all set for 2015 with two lotteries. The Keeping Healthcare Strong Community Lottery and the Cypress Health Region Employee Lottery.

In both lotteries there is $26,000 in prizes spread out through the year, with a hefty end of year bonus draw. Both lotteries will also help to fund the purchase of necessary medical equipment in the Cypress Health Region.

This is the fourth year of the Cypress Health Region Employee lottery. This lottery is only open to employees of the health region. It has been fairly successful over the previous three years with numerous purchases going back into the facilities of the Cypress Health Region. The Dr. Noble Irwin Foundation has chosen to use the proceeds from the 2014 Employee Lottery to place a new Centrifuge in nine of the facilities in the region. Combine that with the projects this year in Maple Creek, Shaunavon, and Ponteix, and all of the facilities in the region that needed a new centrifuge this year will be getting one! This purchase of nine centrifuges is thanks to the support of the men and women who provide healthcare, and we thank them for it.

The Keeping Healthcare Strong community lottery is new this year. The Dr. Noble Irwin Foundation has been asked several times over the last few years why they did not hold a lottery for the general public. In 2015, they will be drawing for $500 every Friday, with a bonus $4,000 draw on Christmas Eve 2015. Tickets are available at Pharmasave and the Foundation office for $100 each and can still be purchase up to the end of February. Although, the later you buy your ticket, the more draws/opportunities you miss.

No specific project has been assigned to the 2015 proceeds of the lotteries as yet. The Foundation will need to wait until the ticket sales deadlines to determine how much money they will have to spend.
