Four individual­s charged with vehicle thefts in Chaplin, Morse and Herbert

Four individual­s charged in a series of recent vehicle thefts in Chaplin, Morse and Herbert made a second appearance in Swift Current Provincial Court earlier today.

Two young offenders and two adult males are facing a series of charges in connection to the theft of five different vehicles.

Morse RCMP received a series of complaints of mischief to vehicles and stolen vehicles on Wednesday. Two vehicles were reported stolen from Chaplin, with one of the vehicles recovered stuck in a ditch in Chaplin. A truck that had been stolen from Chaplin was subsequent­ly recovered in Morse. Additional­ly, a truck was reported stolen in Morse, another truck was reported stolen in Herbert, and a van was reported stolen in Regina.

At approximat­ely 11 a.m. on Wednesday, the Swift Current RCMP Roving Traffic Unit was conducting patrols on the TransCanad­a Highway when members spotted one of the stolen trucks. RCMP began a pursuit of the suspect vehicle, which turned off the Highway and onto a grid road. The vehicle was followed for approximat­ely 10 kilometres on the grid road before the vehicle stopped. The suspects were arrested without incident.

Joseph Little Crow, 18, Tyler Nahbexie, 19, along with young offenders aged 15 and 17 were charged with two counts of possession of property over $5,000, one count of willful mischief over $5,000; one count of operating a motor vehicle and being pursued by a peace officer, five counts of theft of a motor vehicle, along with four counts of willful mis- chief.
