United teams miss medals at Indoor Soccer Provincial­s

Under-16 girls and Under-14 girls make it to semifinals

Three Swift Current United Soccer Club teams took part in the Saskatchew­an Soccer Associatio­n's Six- aside Indoor Soccer Provincial Championsh­ips in Saska- toon over the weekend.

The three teams combined for a 6-4-1 record but were unable to bring back any medals from Provincial­s.

The Under-16 United Girls won their first three matches at Provincial­s before being eliminated in the semi-finals.

Friday, the U16 girls opened the tournament with an 8-0 win over the Humboldt Hurricanes, led by four goals from Brooke Vallee. Ali Vance scored three goals and Cassie Barber added a single.

Saturday, they followed up with a 4- 1 win over Saskatoon Hollandia White. Vallee and Vance each scored twice in the win. They completed an unbeaten round robin with a 2-0 win over the Lakewood Thunder when Vallee scored both goals.

The U16 Girls faced Saskatoon Lakewood in Sunday's semi- final and lost 1-0 to miss the championsh­ip game.

The Under-14 United Girls also made the semifinals to finish in the top half of their eight- team tournament.

Friday, the U14 girls opened provincial­s with a 2- 1 win over Saskatoon Hollandia Orange on goals from Montana Adair and Amanda Thoreson.

Saturday, they followed up with a 5-0 shutout win over FC Regina. Faith Hagen scored twice, while Adair, Scarlett Murphy, and Bryn Haubrich all scored in the win.

They lost 4- 3 to the Lloydminst­er Drillers on Saturday evening on goals from Hagen, Adair, and Meisie Chamberlai­n to place second in their pool with a 2-1 record.

Sunday, they took on Saskatoon Hollandia in the semi-final and lost 2-0.

The Under-14 United Boys finished with a 1-1-1 record at Provincial­s. Friday, they opened the tournament with a 6-1 win over Lloydminst­er. Saturday, they remained unbeaten with a 1-1 draw against the Humboldt Hurricanes. They lost 3-0 to Saskatoon Hollandia to miss the playoffs in the 14team tournament.
